Profhilo in action, 10 simple injections

Profhilo is a ground-breaking skin remodeling technique that targets everything you look forward to with aging, like wrinkles, acne, and fine lines. It does not just plump up your skin but also boots HA release resulting in increased elastin and collagen production. It, in turn, improves skin tone, laxity, and hydration.

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid moisturizing treatment, free of any chemical cross-linking agents. It is neither a filler nor a mesotherapy but a bio-remodeling treatment that works to treat wrinkles from within rather than simply filling them. It results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel that is allowed to flow freely through the subcutaneous tissues, which has a long-lasting stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into the skin, Profhilo revives and stimulates your collagen and elastin production to help treat skin laxity and drooping skin tissues. Profhilo hydrates your skin along with adding volume to the skin and is referred to as switching your skin’s ‘lights on.’

Profhilo treatment for acne scarring

Profhilo treatment is considered beneficial for treating acne as it stimulates collagen production resulting in skin rise and firmness. It makes the scars less visible, making the skin smoother and more hydrated.

How does the Profhilo work?

Profhilo has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid on the market today. It has 32mg of low molecular weight HA (80-100Kda) and 32 mg of high molecular weight HA (1100-1400Kda), totaling 64 mg of HA in a 2ml prefilled syringe; that your doctor can administer using a 29g needle.

Profhilo acts as a hydrator rather than a filler because HA is hydrophilic (water-loving) in nature, which means it draws and holds water from your body. This treatment gives incredible results to those having acne-prone and dull-looking skin.

There are various ways to administer Profhilo, but the BAP technique is the most common. BAP stands for Bio Aesthetic Points, meaning your doctor injects Profhilo at five different points on each side of the face (however, it may vary slightly depending on the face’s shape). It is administered within a two-centimeter radius of the injection site; it is a technique to minimize the number of injections needed and to effectively allow the Profhilo treatment to combat the signs of aging.

The treatment consists of two sessions four weeks apart. The effects start taking place within 3-5 days of treatment. The maximum impact of Profhilo is usually seen two months after the second treatment. The treatment results last for six months, depending on the severity of the case. The procedure can be repeated every six months to maintain the results.

Treatment procedure

  • Your consultation will begin with an informal and detailed examination of your skin and the severity of the problem to assess what you would like to achieve with your treatment.
  • All patients undergo the skin tone, texture, and elasticity assessment, followed by facial photography and videography.
  • Profhilo injections are administered with a premium micro-needle. Usually, the treatment process does not require anesthesia, but if one prefers it, the doctor can provide it at no extra cost.

What to expect?

Profhilo treatment is used to treat skin problems of the face, neck, arms, knees, or hands. It gives your skin a new lease of life by giving it luminosity, moisture, firmness, and sparkle. You can notice a few changes after 1st treatment. However, the best results can be seen after your second treatment.

Recovery time and precautionary measures

After the treatment, the skin is usually recovered within a few hours. You can resume your routine activities after a few hours following the treatment. However, we recommend you avoid strenuous activities like exercise and sports on the first day after the treatment and don’t have a sauna or steam bath for the first few days. It would be best not to go in the intense sun or UV light for the first few days post-treatment.

Difference between Fillers and Profhilo

Although both fillers and Profhilo are injected underneath the skin to reverse the signs of aging, you should remember a few things while choosing either of the treatments.

Fillers use a thick and more viscous type of Hyaluronic acid, whereas Profhilo is runny in texture.

In fillers, HA is usually combined with other ingredients, whereas Profhilo has the most concentrated and purified form of HA.

After administration, how fillers and Profhilo act inside the skin are the exact opposite of each other. Fillers stay under the skin at the injection site, whereas HA starts to disperse underneath the skin, spreading its moisturizing magic across the whole face after the Profhilo shots.

Dermal fillers are specific to a few target areas like cheeks, lips, or deep wrinkles, whereas Profhilo isn’t restricted to one site or organ only.

Side effects

Every non-surgical treatment brings a few side effects, such as minor bruising or swelling at the injection site. However, these side effects don’t always occur with every patient; even if they do, they subside quickly. Aesthetic specialists don’t usually recommend Profhilo treatment with breastfeeding and pregnant women or those allergic to HA.

Am I the right candidate for Profhilo?

If you feel that your facial tissue quality has significantly dropped and that you look older than your years but are not ready for dermal fillers, then Profhilo may be the best treatment option for you. You need Profhilo if:

  • Your skin lacks elasticity.
  • Your skin lacks volume and plumpness.
  • You notice lines and wrinkles in your skin.
  • You have dehydrated or sun-damaged skin.
  • You want to reverse the signs of skin aging.

Summary

Profhilo is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation technique that comes with minimal side effects. HA is injected beneath your skin, and its runny consistency spreads it across your entire face, giving your skin a new lease of life. Skin is usually recovered within a few hours of treatment with a small risk of bruising. The patient should avoid laborious work and exposure to direct sunlight immediately after the treatment. The procedure is usually 30 minutes long and can be repeated every six months, depending on the skin type and the extent of correction needed.
